Imbalances in hormone status
Feminea Hormon Omni Health Test contains the following 8 hormonal biomarkers which we analyze to get a more comprehensive picture of your hormonal balance.
Common symptoms of hormonal imbalances in women can include changes in the menstrual cycle, infertility, weight problems, changes in skin and hair quality, mood swings, fatigue, memory problems, sexual problems, osteoporosis, hormone-related cancer and cardiovascular problems.
These symptoms can be a result of imbalances in hormones such as estrogen, progesterone, FSH, LH, cortisol, testosterone and thyroid hormones.
Production of thyroid hormones and other important hormones or can cause similar symptoms in case of functional disorders. For example, high levels of cortisol can cause similar symptoms as hypothyroidism and complex relationships with other hormones such as estrogen and FSH can affect e.g. fertility and menstruation.
Cortisol is a stress hormone produced by the adrenal glands. It helps the body deal with stress and regulates various bodily functions such as metabolism, blood sugar and blood pressure.
Symptoms of high cortisol levels include weight gain, especially in the abdomen, fatigue and weakness, and low cortisol levels can lead to symptoms such as weight loss, muscle weakness and low blood pressure.

thyroid
Feminea Essentiel Omni Health Test contains 3 markers for thyroid hormones.
Disturbances in thyroid hormone levels can cause a variety of symptoms. An underproductive thyroid gland can, among other things, make you tired, depressed, frozen and cause a low metabolism.
An overproductive thyroid gland can cause symptoms such as nervousness, difficulty unwinding and weight loss. An analysis of TSH in serum can demonstrate whether there is disease in the thyroid gland.
ANTIBODIES
Feminea Essentiel Omni Health Test contains the following 2 biomarkers which we analyze.
TPO is an enzyme found in the thyroid gland and is important for the production of thyroid hormones. It is involved in the formation of T3 and T4, hormones that regulate metabolism and are used to detect hypothyroidism (underactive thyroid).
TRAK is a type of antibody that is thyroid stimulating which can lead to hyperthyroidism (overactive thyroid gland).
Feminea Essentiel Omni Health Test contains 3 markers for thyroid hormones which we analyze.
You can read more about these markers on FemineaLab Academy.
Vitamins and minerals
Analyzing hormones along with vitamins and minerals can help determine if a hormone imbalance is due to a lack or excess of certain nutrients or if it is caused by an underlying endocrine system disorder.
Feminea Essentiel Omni Advanced Health Test contains the following 7 biomarkers which we analyze.
Vitamin and mineral deficiencies can affect thyroid function and it can be difficult to distinguish symptoms from a thyroid disease from the lack of these nutrients and there are links between deficiencies in these substances and thyroid function.
You can read more about these markers on FemineaLab Academy.
Ferritin protein
Ferritin is a protein that stores iron in the body. A low level of ferritin may indicate an iron deficiency anemia, while a high level may indicate an iron overdose.
You can read more about this biomarker on FemineaLab Academy.
Homocysteine amino acid
Increased levels of homocysteine in the blood may be associated with an increased risk of autoimmune thyroid diseases.
Increased levels of homocysteine can be caused by vitamin deficiencies, genetic predisposition, and certain medical conditions.
Measuring homocysteine levels along with other markers can help identify underlying causes of thyroid dysfunction.
You can read more about this biomarker on FemineaLab Academy.
TransFerrin protein
Transferrin is a protein found in the blood and is responsible for carrying iron around the body. Iron is an important mineral for many body functions, including oxygen carrying and immune function.
Transferrin binds to iron and transports it to different parts of the body where it is needed. The iron is then released from transferrin when it reaches its targets.
Transferrin levels in the blood are an indicator of iron balance in the body and can be used to diagnose iron deficiency anemia, a condition in which the body does not have enough iron for normal function, or hemochromatosis, a disorder in which the body has too much iron.
Transferrin can also be used as a marker for other diseases that affect iron balance, including liver diseases and infectious diseases.
You can read more about this biomarker on FemineaLab Academy.
Iron saturation
Iron saturation is a measure of the amount of iron bound to the protein transferrin in the blood.
Transferrin is a protein that carries iron in the blood, and the iron saturation is a measure of how much of the transferrin carries iron.
Iron saturation is usually expressed as a percentage and is calculated by dividing the amount of iron bound to transferrin by the total amount of iron-binding capacity of transferrin.
Iron saturation is used to assess iron status in the body. A normal iron saturation is usually between 20% and 50%.
Low iron saturation levels may indicate iron deficiency anemia, while high iron saturation levels may indicate iron overload.
You can read more about this biomarker on FemineaLab Academy.
kidney function
Feminea Essentiel Omni Hälsotest contains the following important biomarkers which we analyze.
These markers are important for evaluating the overall health of the kidneys and electrolyte balance, and also for identifying underlying causes of thyroid dysfunction, as kidney and electrolyte imbalances can affect thyroid hormone metabolism and transport in the body.
You can read more about these markers on FemineaLab Academy.
Cardiovascular health
Feminea Essentiel Omni contains the following biomarkers for cardiovascular health.
Analyzing levels of heart markers such as LDL, HDL, cholesterol, and blood fats along with hormones can provide a comprehensive picture of a person's cardiovascular health and hormone status and can help determine whether an imbalance in hormones is contributing to a person's cardiovascular health problems or is a independent problem.
You can read more about these markers on FemineaLab Academy.
Blood sugar
Feminea Essentiel Omni Health Test contains the following 2 biomarkers for your blood sugar.
An analysis of Hba1c can help detect diabetes at an early stage by giving an indication of how blood sugar levels have looked over time.
This can reduce the risk of missing diabetes at an early stage where examination with only fasting glucose can give normal test results. Hba1c is also used as an analysis to check the treatment effect in diabetes.
When hemoglobin in the red blood cells reacts with glucose, HbA1c is formed. The concentration of HbA1c in the blood reflects the average blood sugar level for about 2-3 months before sampling.
That the analysis reflects 2-3 months is due to the average lifespan of red blood cells. Therefore, one can use HbA1c to detect diabetes at a relatively early stage and not be misled by temporarily normal blood glucose values.
For example, imbalances in hormones such as insulin and cortisol can affect glucose levels and lead to problems with blood sugar regulation.
You can read more about these markers on FemineaLab Academy.
Liver function
Feminea Essentiel Omni Health Test contains the following 3 biomarkers for the liver.
Analysis of liver tracers along with hormones can provide a comprehensive picture of a person's liver function and hormone status.
You can read more about these markers on FemineaLab Academy.
Pancreas
Feminea Essentiel Omni Health Test contains the following biomarker for the pancreas.
The pancreas also produces amylase, which is secreted into the small intestine to help break down starch during digestion.
You can read more about these markers on FemineaLab Academy.
Blood status and Inflammation
Feminea Essentiel Omni Health Test contains the following 11 biomarkers for your blood status.
Together, blood markers and hormone markers provide a comprehensive picture of a person's health status and help to more quickly diagnose and treat any underlying health problems.
In some cases, imbalances in hormones and blood markers can be linked, making it even more important to test both together to get a full understanding of the person's health status.
CRP is a marker of inflammation in the body. High levels of CRP can be a sign of conditions such as cardiovascular disease, autoimmune diseases and infections.
Testing CRP levels along with hormones can help determine if an imbalance in hormones is contributing to inflammation in the body or if the inflammation is an independent problem.
Anti-CCP and RF are markers of autoimmune diseases in rheumatoid arthritis
You can read more about these on FemineaLab Academy.

Detailed guide to preparing for your comprehensive health test
To ensure that your health test gives the most accurate results possible, there are a number of specific guidelines you should follow before taking the test. Here is a detailed guide:
General preparations
FASTING: Some of these tests, such as those for blood sugar and lipid profile, may require an 8-12 hour fast. Check with the laboratory to see what specific instructions apply.
TIME OF DAY: Hormonal markers such as cortisol have diurnal variation. It may be best to take the test in the morning when levels are most stabilized, unless otherwise advised.
MEDICATIONS: If you are taking medications that affect any of these markers, consult your doctor about whether you should stop taking them before the test and if so for how long. If you take thyroid medication, it should be taken after the test. We do not recommend taking the test if you are on hormone treatments. Consult your doctor first.
HYDRATION: Drink plenty of water, but avoid alcohol and caffeine 24 hours before the test. This facilitates the blood sampling.
AVOID STRENUOUS PHYSICAL ACTIVITY: Strenuous exercise can affect certain blood markers, so it may be a good idea to avoid it 24 hours before the test.
Thyroid gland
TSH, T3, T4, anti-TPO, TRAb
Take Levaxin or other thyroid medications after you have the blood test.
Hormonal balance
Read more about where in the cycle do I take my hormone test?
CORTISOL: This test should be taken in the morning when levels are at their highest.
PROGESTERONE: For women, this test should be taken about a week after ovulation, in the middle of the luteal phase.
OTHER HORMONES (FSH, ESTRADIOL, TESTOSTERONE, SHGB, LH, DHEAS):
Women should take hormone tests in accordance with their menstrual cycle and in consultation with a doctor.
If you are on hormone therapy, such as hormone injections, it is generally not recommended to take the test.
VITAMINS AND MINERALS
IRON: This test should be taken on an empty stomach, preferably in the morning.
SUPPLEMENTS SUCH AS BIOTIN: If you are taking biotin or other health food products, stop for at least 72 hours before the test, as these can interfere with the test results.
CARDIOVASCULAR HEALTH
LDL, HDL, CHOLESTEROL, TRIGLYCERIDES: Avoid eating fatty foods 24 hours before the test.
Liver and Kidneys
ALT, AST, ALP, SODIUM, ALBUMIN, CREATININE, POTASSIUM: A milder diet without alcohol is recommended in the days before the test.
BLOOD STATUS
MCV, RBC, WBC, Hct, Hgb, MCH, PLT: No special preparation is required, but hydration may help.
BLOOD SUGAR
HbA1c, INSULIN: These tests are usually performed on an empty stomach.
INFLAMMATION
CRP: If you have an acute infection or inflammation, you should wait until it has passed before taking the test.
Please note that although these guidelines are general, it may be helpful to consult with your healthcare provider for personalized recommendations. Proper preparation ensures a more accurate picture of your current health.
Analysis is carried out at certified laboratories: Karolinska University Laboratory | SYNLAB | Unilabs. Test response normally within 2-6 working days
This happens after you take your blood test:
- The samples are sent to the nearest laboratory for analysis. This usually only takes a day or two for the lab to receive your samples.
- The lab analyzes your samples. Some samples take longer to analyze. For example
- Retinol can take up to 3 weeks and other special samples 2 weeks. For most samples, however, it takes a maximum of 2-4 days, so we have the samples with us so that a doctor can assess them.
- If the entire chain is digital, you will have the test result within 6 working days. This normally takes place in Region Stockholm at present. If it is by post, it may take a few more days.
- In some counties, southern Sweden and northern Sweden, the samples can be split between several different labs, which can delay the test results by a few more days.
- When the doctor has assessed the analysis from the lab, we notify you and you can then log in to the health account with BankID to view the results.
Regarding Referral - How, When, Where?
How is my referral made?
- Production of your referral starts after you order a health test. The referral is ordered by a doctor via an administrator.
- The referral is normally produced within 1 working day, which means that if you order on a Wednesday, it will normally arrive on Thursday at the latest, but can also be ready within the day. If you order on a Friday, expect it to be ready on Monday.
When will I receive my referral?
- You will receive a notification from us via your email when the referral is ready. The referral is first checked by an independent person to ensure that it corresponds to your order.
Where can I find my referral?
- You can find all referrals we produce in your name on your Health account on MinaSidor. Log in with your BankId to take part in the referral.
How can I use my referral?
- The referral is valid throughout Sweden at all receptions for blood tests, but we recommend that you go to a larger reception, infirmary or hospital.
- Please note that if you take samples in Region Stockholm on a unit connected to the Karolinska University Laboratory, your referral is already available as an e-referral. Otherwise, you just download it from your Health account on My Pages
What information is in the referral?
- The referral contains who ordered the referral and to whom the test answer should be sent.
- All markers must be included in the referral in accordance with your order.
- There is also information at the end of the referral regarding preparations for various markers and other information on how to handle the samples.
We are connected to 200+ clinics all over Sweden
- Find the nearest blood sampling clinic
- Our referrals apply throughout Sweden, regardless of whether they are e-referrals or paper referrals that you have downloaded from our website.
- You book an appointment for the nearest blood test. We strongly recommend that you choose a larger reception, i.e. a hospital or infirmary.
- In addition to preparations for the blood test itself (whether you should fast or not), which you can read under another tab, you follow the reception's recommendations for preparation.
- Always bring your ID with you
- Do not book an appointment until you have received your referral so that you are sure that the referral has gone through.
