En bestämning av blodgrupp är en viktig laboratorietest som används för att fastställa vilken typ av blod som en person har. Det vanligaste systemet för att klassificera blodgrupper hos människor är ABO-systemet, som baseras på förekomsten av två huvudantigena markörer på ytan av röda blodkroppar - antigen A och antigen B.
För att bestämma en persons blodgrupp samlas blodprov in och röda blodkroppar separeras från plasma genom centrifugering. De röda blodkropparna tvättas sedan för att ta bort eventuella proteiner eller andra molekyler som kan påverka resultatet. Därefter tillsätts specifika antikroppar till de tvättade röda blodkropparna för att identifiera vilka antigena markörer som finns på ytan av dessa.
Beroende på vilka antikroppar som reagerar med de röda blodkropparna kan laboratoriepersonalen bestämma vilken typ av blodgrupp personen har. Utifrån resultaten kan man säkerställa att transfusioner av blod eller blodkomponenter är säkra och undvika transfusionsreaktioner som kan vara skadliga för mottagarens hälsa.
Erytrocytantikroppsscreening är också en viktig del av processen för att bestämma en persons blodgrupp. Detta test utförs för att upptäcka förekomsten av antikroppar mot erytrocytantigener i blodet, vilket är viktigt för att minimera risken för transfusionsreaktioner.

There may be local variations in what recommendations your chosen unit makes for preparation. Normally, the most important information is in the referral or in the information above.
If it is not an e-referral, take a paper referral with you. Make sure what applies.
Opening hours may vary depending on the season. Some clinics have drop-in and others may require an appointment for blood tests.
Don't forget to take your ID with you.
We recommend arriving in good time and sitting and resting for about 15 minutes before the sample is taken.

Allmänna förberedelser
- Fasta: Vissa av dessa tester, som de för blodsocker och lipidprofil, kan kräva en 8-12 timmars fasta. Kontrollera med laboratoriet för att se vilka specifika instruktioner som gäller.
- Tid på dagen: Hormonella markörer som kortisol har dygnsvariation. Det kan vara bäst att ta testet på morgonen när nivåerna är mest stabiliserade, om inte annat rekommenderas.
- Mediciner: Om du tar mediciner som påverkar någon av dessa markörer, konsultera din läkare om du bör sluta ta dem inför testet och hur länge i så fall. Om du tar sköldkörtelmedicin så ska den tas efter provet. Att ta provet om du går på hormonbehandlingar rekommenderar vi inte. Konsultera först din läkare.
- Hydration: Drick gott om vatten, men undvik alkohol och koffein 24 timmar före testet. Detta underlättar blodprovtagningen.
- Undvik ansträngande fysisk aktivitet: Hård träning kan påverka vissa blodmarkörer, så det kan vara en bra idé att undvika det 24 timmar innan testet.
BLODSTATUS
- MCV, EPK, LPK, EVF, Hb, MCH, TPK: Ingen särskild förberedelse krävs, men hydrering kan hjälpa.

This happens after you take your blood test:
- The samples are sent to the nearest laboratory for analysis. This usually only takes a day or two for the lab to receive your samples.
- The lab analyzes your samples. Some samples take longer to analyze. For example
- Retinol can take up to 3 weeks and other special samples 2 weeks. For most samples, however, it takes a maximum of 2-4 days, so we have the samples with us so that a doctor can assess them.
- If the entire chain is digital, you will have the test result within 6 working days. This normally takes place in Region Stockholm at present. If it is by post, it may take a few more days.
- In some counties, southern Sweden and northern Sweden, the samples can be split between several different labs, which can delay the test results by a few more days.
- When the doctor has assessed the analysis from the lab, we notify you and you can then log in to the health account with BankID to view the results.

Regarding Referral - How, When, Where?
How is my referral made?
- Production of your referral starts after you order a health test. The referral is ordered by a doctor via an administrator.
- The referral is normally produced within 1 working day, which means that if you order on a Wednesday, it will normally arrive on Thursday at the latest, but can also be ready within the day. If you order on a Friday, expect it to be ready on Monday.
When will I receive my referral?
- You will receive a notification from us via your email when the referral is ready. The referral is first checked by an independent person to ensure that it corresponds to your order.
Where can I find my referral?
- You can find all referrals we produce in your name on your Health account on MinaSidor. Log in with your BankId to take part in the referral.
How can I use my referral?
- The referral is valid throughout Sweden at all receptions for blood tests, but we recommend that you go to a larger reception, infirmary or hospital.
- Please note that if you take samples in Region Stockholm on a unit connected to the Karolinska University Laboratory, your referral is already available as an e-referral. Otherwise, you just download it from your Health account on My Pages
What information is in the referral?
- The referral contains who ordered the referral and to whom the test answer should be sent.
- All markers must be included in the referral in accordance with your order.
